Carolina isn’t finer for its disabled residents…

Here we go:

The morally questionable governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford, trumpeted awhile before his Appallachian trail turned Argentinian bootycall, that he would refuse the stimulus money on ideological grounds…

Because he was a limited government, family values sort of guy….

Well, he’s shown his hypocrisy yet again on a completely different front.

In 2009 and 2010 a combined total of 54 million dollars was meant to preserve homecare hours for South Carolina’s severely disabled…a resource that keeps them out of institutions and their families away from deeper poverty.

90% of these funds have been  (in my opinion illegally) directed to South Carolina’s ‘rainy day fund.’ (What is that exactly? Travel money for the governor???)

The State Supremes ruled in favor of the rainy day fund, so the money will stay where it is.

There is a hardship exemption left as a last resort, but a care manager in the state feels that they will all be denied no matter what the situation….

This is a bad beginning of an echo of what happened in Alabama a few years back when services were entirely cut for persons with disabilities over 21.

I’d like to know the name of the bureaucrat who moved the money,  and their rationale for moving it…

Stealing from those who are the easiest to tune out.

How very…Christian.
