My little contribution to the wake…

August 26, 2009 at 11:31 AM (Uncategorized) ()

I removed my previous post when I heard the news, since I think it is inappropriate for today….so, here’s a replacement.

His family was forced into some awful sort of relay race:

The pilot died, and the naval officer picked up the flag.

The naval officer became our President, and the President was assassinated, and the Attorney General took up the flag.

The Attorney General became a candidate and was assassinated, and his youngest brother took up the flag….and carried it for 40 years…

Became perhaps the last politician left to whom the appellation “liberal” could be applied as a genuine word of praise by his foes and not as some foul curseword.

There are some businesses and pols who aren’t mourning today…I took down my last post about them, not in respect for them, but out of respect to Senator Kennedy….

The results of much of his work in the Senate are proof of this below:

where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light;

And, since he was beginning and end an Irishman:

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

We’ll never really understand the impact of not having Senator Kennedy with us anymore…but we know it will be big.
