A bit satirical, and intellectually pompous bit o’ snark

No matter who wins in November, I have a few very minor requests.

For anyone beginning their learning curve on foreign policy…and those with more foreign policy chops

It’s not pronounced “eye rack”  (a stack of frames at LensCrafters?)

My understanding is it’s more like “ear auk”

and for Iran

It isn’t “I ran”  (“i ran so far awayy…”)

More like “ear on” (Think Jamie Sommers and her bionic ear.)

Also:  “Afgahnistahn”  and “Pakistahn” are better pronunciations than “Stan” at the end, like some local guy.

And, no matter who wins…

I believe the correct pronunciation of “new clee ar” will again be heard in the capital, and the abomination “new cue lahr” will be cast out…into a fiery furnace.

One can always hope.

Am I elitist about language?  Damn straight.  I love the music of language, even the mixed up mess that is my own, and hate to see persons of authority, that ought to be better at speaking the words they must use often, mangling them and grinning as if that should give them points with those watching and listening.

And American isn’t pronounced with an O in the first syllable. Or as “Merkin.”
