Whole Foods on a splendid sunny day, just after payday and just after a decent haircut. (also am trying some conditioner so that my hair loses that lovely consistency of straw)
The list was:
Soy milk boxes (single servings for work)
Veggies to sautee or crock pot. (already diced, so I don’t need to…orange, yellow red and green bell pepper, onion, zucchni and teh yellow squash (which is evil tasting and will not be used)
fresh ground meat and some eggs (for roomate’s prefered take to work food, meatloaf.)
skinless boneless chicken breasts headed for the crock pot
low sodium broth
a knockout tarragon chicken salad (which I will eat for lunch in a few minutes)
tarragon, ginger, rosemary, oregano, cilantro (to help season the chicken without salt.)
One treat a pre-marinated teriyaki checken breast (with little measured out single servings of diced pinapple to put on top.)
The one sour note will be soy and fruit packaged like those little mini yogurts…I just want to try it it will probably be bleah.
Egg whites for me.
Lime juice (again, with seasoning in mind…)
We already have the rice at home (I have to go non-whole grain)
Since the meat wasn’t packaged to freeze, we have to crock pot the whole amt of chicken right away and make a meatloaf so it’s off to the kitchen….
Another troubling aspect of being leftward on the political spectrum and believing mightily in the push to get people out of nursing homes and into community based services…
Parts of organized labor ain’t having nothing to do with meeting with or seeing the point of disability activists positions, as shown by AFSCME’s response to the Adapt action in Chicago…(tired, can’t link to it, go Google)
A decrease in jobs in care facilities apparently is seen to hurt the unions….
Wouldn’t caregivers in institutional settingsrather have fewer patients to handle in an eight hour day….?
I’m missing something…
Got a big crockpot for cooking decent food, may be heading into the mountains tomorow, and the new TV season has yielded some fairly interesting stuff:
I’m a “Heroes” geek, so I loved the premiere.
The new “Bionic Woman,’ is far more manga/anime/graphic novel than FemBond, but…I’m liking it .
She’s a bit too pretty.
And, I’m sorry, but I now realize I’ve missed a lot by not staying in touch with “ER,”….the season opener kicked some serious ***
(for the first seven or so years post-cancer, I couldn’t watch a medical show….too many resonances with the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Ward, or my husband as a patient at That Other Teaching Hospital. Couldn’t do it….I’d get the shakes. But, for the moment, there’s enough water under the bridge that I now watch them like any other show.)
Work was fair. I’m still adjusting to not being able to walk…I can’t push it to the back of my head, but nor can I allow it to affect my telephone interaction with customers….
I have to make time to get some bloodwork done next week, but I don’t see the podiatrist until the end of October…and though the severity of the pain ranges from fairly severe to excruciating, the med I’m on helps me get through my day.
