She’s what’s needed when

July 17, 2006 at 2:49 PM (Blogger's about impairment)

I get mired in the too serious.

Gimpy Mumpy She’s got humor, dead on cartoons, sharp observations on medicine and incompetence and what *should* happen when they go together, and the some of the best gear ever! (If I am ever NotPoor again, I will buy the CWD stuffed animal. 🙂 My fav.

I haven’t left many comments over there but I stop by often.

Her beloved pet passed away recently, and now animal shelter people are puzzled because if she finds another furry friend she and the pet won’t necessarily be marathoning together. (WTF? since when did the “approval for pet ownership” reqire a four minute mile?)

We wouldn’t laugh as often or as hard if she weren’t blogging.

Hugs to her

Single mom’s raise many children with impairments

July 17, 2006 at 12:35 PM (Kids With Disabilities, Parents)

But evidently the mom had better be able boded and earning above the income guidelines for affordable housing. If not, at present, some affordable housing departments have refused them.

If, as the AP article linked in the post title seems to mention, over 40% of the households that are raising children with impairments are single parent homes that also struggle with income (more likely in single parent situations) how is this any help at all?
